Dj Lights Out first came to prominence in the TV series “Life of the Black Card” Club playing himself as an edgy young producer from Virginia in which he did for four years. After leaving the show he became one of the dopest hiphop, pop, and soul producers on the eastern coast. He’s always in the mix, whether it’s for teaching, and touring with other artists, Founding his own brand GODSKIDS, or fronting the Tulones clothing brand global ambassador. It’s no surprise that JayElectronica labeled him as one of the most underrated producers in the game.

Born Raphael Slateron May7,1985, in Fayetteville, South Carolina, Dj Lights Out grew up with music in his blood. His father, Jimmie Hart, was a general in the military who loved soul and funk music. A cousin, Meka Dewitt who has played lead guitar for several professional bands. An uncle, Tyrone Little taught several VA legends how to play the bass and also performed with them live. Dj Lights Out says that his family friend Pharrell Williams was one of his biggest influences growing up. Dj Lights Out comes from an eclectic and unique ethnic and religious background. His father was an Ethiopian Catholic and his mother is a Southern Baptist. Dj Lights Out says: “At the end of the day I consider myself a Black man because I’m more immersed in Black culture than any other. Being Ethiopian is kind of a cool twist. It makes me unique.”
