Presentation Francesco Patanè Art
The search for perfection in imperfection, the contrast of barely sketched bodies and figures
that seem to emerge from the jute, the material strength of the asphalt, the use of unusual
and unconventional materials, these are the pictorial characteristics of Francesco Patanè.
The artist has always played on imperfection, to bring out the true nature of the depicted
subject, his profound essence, his hidden “I”, the sensitivity of the individual regardless of
physical appearance, his slogan is in fact: imperfection is beauty.
His art is aimed at recovering a primordial ideal of representation and his focusing on the
bodies or faces of ordinary people is linked to the predilection for aesthetic imperfections
which, in his opinion, are the most fascinating and enigmatic part of every single individual ,
perfection is in being not in appearing.
According to Patanè, art must reproduce, evoke and excite the observer but, more
importantly, it is in the artist that the work of art must be able to convey that emotion.
A thoughtful figurative, he likes to define his style as an artist, since what inspires his
imagination are drafts of “people” rather than defined and harmonic subjects. Not just
bodies, therefore, but people.
In contrast to the “imperfection” of the people reproduced, the artist has a meticulous care in
the processing of the materials used, which lead him to start even from the wooden frame on
which the work will be fixed, to then move on to the processing of the jute bag , in which he
creates a primer with glue and acrylic and, in the end, once everything has dried, he outlines
the character to be brought back to the canvas. Subsequently he proceeds with the pouring
of tarred asphalt to reach the final realization of the work.
In the works of Francesco Patanè one can glimpse only an initial hint of abstractionism,
which then, through the overlapping of the materials used, produces, almost by magic,
through messy lines and pouring of asphalt, figures and human bodies, in which one can
glimpse his primary source of inspiration, the genius and neo-expressionism of Jean Michel
Basquiat.
Passionate artist, who draws his artistic peculiarities and character from his Sicilian origins,
sincere and sincere personality who greatly loves the direct encounter with his audience
because, as he himself declares, what matters is to excite and get excited, often giving , to
the audience, the priceless experience of live performance, with impromptu live paintings.

Biographical notes of Francesco Patanè:
Francesco Patanè, Roman, born in 1986, trained in the “Landscape course” at the Ludovico
Quaroni Faculty of Architecture of La Sapienza, but soon developed an original style that led
him, rather than to design, to paint, clearly departing from the techniques usual pictorial.
His passion for art begins in the home, where creativity is at home, his uncle was a painter
and a sculptor, his mother a designer, stylist and immediately passed on to him the love for
art. A significant part, however, was occupied by his first middle school art teacher, who,
appreciating his work, encouraged his artistic vein.
An eclectic artist, he also delights in music, out of pure passion.
The artist declares: “The world of art has always fascinated me even if the obstacles of life
have put me in front of a forced choice. For economic reasons, I was unable to continue my
academic studies.
